In 2009, the estimated cost of cardiovascular disease in the United States was $475.3 billion according to the American Heart Association and the NHLBI. However, mortality rates have decreased due to improved prevention, diagnosis and treatment. This panel will discuss promising new areas of research and developing trends that are attracting funds.
