Topic Description
With healthcare costs skyrocketing, there is more urgent need for more cost-effective methods for delivering care. One class of solutions is focused on early and less expensive interventions using information technology and consumer medical electronics. As a result, there are new and interesting business and professional opportunities at the convergence of life sciences, information technology, engineering and consumer services. This presentation will provide an overview of the current market and some exciting trends and opportunities.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Geetha Rao is the founder and CEO of MyMedFax, Inc. a personal health records services company. She is an experienced entrepreneur and executive and has served in numerous interim executive and advisory roles, including CEO of Springborne Life Sciences, VP of Strategy & Risk Management at Triple Ring Technologies, and Chief Corporate Development Officer at Molecular Image, Inc. Previously she was President and CEO of Norgren Systems, a biotechnology/drug discovery automation company
Dr. Rao is also active with several professional and non-profit organizations. She serves as Life Sciences Program Chair for Astia, formerly Women’s Technology Cluster, chair of ASQ Biomedical Division, Northern California Discussion Group, and on several non-profit and advisory boards. Previously, she has chaired the MIT/Stanford Venture Lab’s Emerging Business Track for Life Sciences, and has been a guest faculty on Stanford University’s Biodesign Innovation Program. Dr. Rao is a graduate of the IIT, Madras, holds a doctorate from MIT, and a master’s degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where she was a Sloan Fellow.
