Dr. Constantz was the CEO of Norian Corporation, an orthobiologics company he founded in 1987, and led to an initial public offering in 1996 and acquisition by Synthes USA in 1998. He was then the founder and CEO of Corazon Technologies, Inc. in November 1999, a cardiovascular decalcification company which was acquired by Cordis in 2005. In addition, in 2002, he founded and was CEO of Skeletal Kinetic LLC, a second generation orthbiologics company, which commercialized its first product in less than a year from inception, and was sold to Colson Associates in 2006. Throughout Corazon and Skeletal Kinetic, Dr. Constantz has been a Consulting Professor at Stanford University, where he teaches several classes, and is active on grants and supervising graduate students. He currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Biomineral Holdings LLC, the entity managing the revenue stream from the ongoing sales of Skeletal Kinetics products. From 1986 to 1987, Dr. Constantz was a Fulbright Scholar, studying biomineralization, following a post-doctoral position at the United States Geological Survey in Menlo Park.

Brent Constantz, will share his long and diverse experience in the medical devices industry - as an executive, an entrepreneur and as an inventor. Lessons learned with war stories and big accomplishments – all that make bringing a medical device innovation to market have important impacts of standards of health care. He will share his viewpoints about regulated research and the Food and Drug Administration, corporate partnerships, venture capitalists, boards of directors, investment bankers, strategic acquirers, building great teams, and developing intellectual property.

He will share some of his experiences as CEO of Norian Corporation, that raised over $56 MM in venture capital, and another $25 MM in corporate deals. How he led Skeletal Kinetics to market in record time (under a year) and later to its acquisition by Colson, without any venture capital. Kyphon, and other spin-outs.

Brent will share the challenges he faces as a serial innovator to approaching new markets. Last, a word about the medical device community for new entrepreneurs and their employees.
