About the Symposium
Lean manufacturing processes and tools have led to dramatic gains in efficiencies in many industries in the past several years – there are few companies that don’t practice some form of “lean” in manufacturing today. However, extension of lean principles to product development has proven to be considerably more challenging. The symposium will address practical issues of lean product development, including:
• How is lean product development distinct from lean manufacturing?
• What are key concepts in a lean product development process and how can knowledge factor into the process?
• What are practical aspects of implementing lean product development in the “real” world?
Program Highlights
Keynote Speaker
We are very excited to feature Ron Marsiglio of Knowledge/PD, LLC. as the keynote speaker for the symposium. He personally led one of the first successful knowledge Driven Product Development (KDPD) transformations as the President of Teledyne Benthos. His experience with KDPD began in early 2005 and in the past six years, he has established a practical methodology for implementing the KDPD process. Ron has helped a number of leading companies make the KDPD transformation and solve their product development problems. In his keynote, Ron will share his insights gained on the journey.
Industry Panel
Hear from a distinguished panel of experienced engineering and product development executives who have implemented lean based methods.
Optional Workshop
All attendees of the Symposium are invited to participate in an optional workshop at no additional cost. The workshop will be presented by Roger Tang.
A3 and A3-like Tools, Philosophy and Practice
•Understand the history and philosophy behind the famous Toyota "A3"
•Learn how to use the A3 as a mechanism for communication, coordination, and knowledge capture
