February 26, 2010: UnNatural Evolution Symposium This special Symposium (hosted jointly by the Woods Institute for the Environment and Bio-X) will focus on how environmental change and human activity are altering evolution. Our goal is to bring together speakers from different fields and parts of the University in order to bring this subject into the spotlight for our faculty, students and community.
Keynote Speaker: Vicki Chandler, Chief Program Officer, Science at Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
Diverse aspects of this theme from epidemiology to the oceans will be considered in 30 minutes presentations by Stanford Faculty including Deborah Gordon, Gary Schoolnik, Eric Lambin and Barbara Block. Closing remarks by Donald Kennedy will be followed by a Networking Reception and a Poster Session. The Symposium will end with a BBQ on Clark Center patio.
